Peace of Mind Through Seattle Humane's Pet Guardian Program
"Can't thank you enough for taking good care of Gramps' good friend and loyal companion! You'll never know how much peace of mind we have knowing that she is in such good hands."
So wrote Gramps' family after he passed away and Seattle Humane Society took in his loyal companion, Foxxy, a beautiful domestic longhaired kitty with striking green eyes. A Seattle Humane staff member brought Foxxy to the Bellevue shelter for care and placement into a loving home as part of Seattle Humane's Pet Guardian Program.
Gramps had enrolled in the program in 2011 so that he and his family could rest assured that if something happened to him, Foxxy would be taken care of.
Seattle Humane's Pet Guardian Program is only two years old, so Gramps was the first program enrollee to pass away, and Foxxy the first pet to be re-homed. For Gramps' family, the program has served its purpose of helping dear pets find new homes and helping families deal with the consequences of dear ones passing.
"We will be busy for months to come with Gramps' estate, and the reality of the task is, at times, almost too much to fathom," says Gramps' daughter-in-law, Pat. "So thanks, Seattle Humane, for brightening our day and helping Foxxy adjust to her new life."
