Onyx: One Dog's Legacy

Jessie Carlson's dog, Onyx, meant the world to her. When Jessie passed away recently at the age of 94, she left a generous gift in her will to the Seattle Humane Society so others would be able to experience the unconditional love of a pet.

Jessie did not have any close, surviving family members, but it was the love of Onyx that kept her going during the final months of her life. The executor of Jessie's estate sent us a note after she died, saying that Jessie had peace at the end knowing that Onyx would be taken care of and that her estate would help other animals in need.

Bringing People and Pets Together
The Seattle Humane Society is grateful to receive this support and will use it to care for some of the nearly 6,000 animals that come through our doors each year looking for new families to love. Seattle Humane is a private organization and does not receive any local, state or federal support.

We rely on donors like Jessie to cover our annual budget and work hard to keep expenses to a minimum.
